ATI’s Asthma & Anaphylaxis Training course is a combination of 2 separate units that are completed on the same day:
Unit 1: 22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
Unit 2: 22578VIC Provide First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
Our courses are designed to teach participants to recognise symptoms of both an asthma attack or severe allergic reactions, and how to administer first aid in both of these situations. This course is a requirement of all childcare workers, teachers and support workers in an educational environment. However, it’s also practical for anyone who has children themselves, or in their lives.
Unit 1 or the Asthma component has been developed to equip participants with the ability to recognise the symptoms of an asthma attack, to be confident in administering first aid assistance, how to administer different types of reliever medication, and any other further first aid procedures that may be required.
Unit 2 or the Anaphylaxis component covers how to recognise the symptoms of an anaphylactic reaction (or severe allergic reaction) and how to assist the casualty until professional help arrives.
You will also learn how to use an adrenaline auto-injecting device (known as an EpiPen®/Anapen). It covers the outcomes required to develop and implement a management plan to reduce the risk of severe reactions in individuals who have been diagnosed with anaphylaxis.
